APPLE CRISP
This is one of our family favorites. I like to use up those old apples in that no one wants to use. I usually don’t keep track of how many I use. I just fill the 9 x 9 or 9 x 13 dish that I’m using. If you are making a 9 x 13 dessert, just double the topping. Serve with whip cream or vanilla ice cream.
APPLE CRISP
Cook Time: 30 - 35 minutes
Keywords: dessert
Ingredients
- 5 cups apples/fruit
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2/3 cup brown sugar, not packed
- ½ cup flour (rice flour for gluten free)
- ½ tsp of each – cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger
- ½ cup butter, melted
- ½ cup nuts (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F.
Prepare a 9 x 9 dish.
Peel, core and slice apples into a prepared dish. Toss with 1 tsp of cinnamon.
Combine the rest of the ingredients. Spoon over prepared apples.
Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until apples are tender.
Note:
When making a 9 x 13, double the topping recipe.
Don't be afraid to add some frozen mixed berries in with the apples. Add a couple of tablespoons of corn starch in with the apples & berries to thicken the mixture a bit.
